Learning of a postural control task in a virtual environment with Parkinson´s disease individuals

BACKGROUND: Recent studies have shown individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) are able to learn tasks postural control demand, however, they need more practice, sensory information, and extrinsic feedback for this improvement. These aspects could be provided by task performance on virtual environment. In addition, the retention interval found in these was short. AIM: To investigate extent which learning of involving a high demand is impacted PD, determine impact process both cognition control. METHOD: The Experimental Group comprised 13 participants PD Control comprises 14 healthy elderly. Participants took part one-hour sessions, involved four Kinect system games, cognitive demands. short-term test performed one week after post-test, whereas long-term month post-test. RESULTS: Individuals learned demonstrated short retention. skill led an improvement functions specifically memory. There reactive elderly also better gait stability CONCLUSION:Despite degeneration striatum, responsible consolidation motor learning, skills control, retaining them long term.
